How to Make Your Own Custom Guess Who Board

The classic game gives you 24 strangers. The fun really starts when the faces are people you know — your friends, your family, your colleagues, or the characters from a show you love. Here's how to build your own board on Guess Who Maker in a few minutes.

Step 1: Gather your images

Pick a theme and collect 8 to 48 images. Between 16 and 24 works best for a balanced game — enough variety to make questions interesting without dragging the match out.

Clear, front-facing pictures work best, because players ask questions about visible features. If you're using photos of people, make sure everyone is comfortable being included.

Step 2: Create the template

Open 'Create template', give your board a name, and upload your images. Every image is automatically checked for unsafe content before it's accepted, so public boards stay friendly.

You can name each character, which makes the final guessing step clearer and lets players ask name-based questions. Once you're happy, save the template.

Step 3: Invite a friend and play

From your template, create a room. Choose a private room to share a code with one specific friend, or a public room to play against anyone online.

Both players pick a secret character, and the classic question-and-eliminate loop begins — only now the faces actually mean something to you. Custom boards are perfect for birthdays, classrooms, team events and long-distance game nights.
